Located just down the road from Osprey Developments’ home at The Hive, Applemead House is a flagship regeneration of a former care home site in Whimple. Designed as one of the first sites in East Devon to incorporate Custom Build as standard, Applemead House will be the first development of its kind in Whimple.
Originally built as a store building under the ownership of British Rail from around 1950, Applemead House was converted to offices in 1979, being used as the office for the Whiteway’s of Whimple cider factory from 1984, before being opened as a care home in February 1999 by Sense, the Deaf, Blind and Rubella Association, until its closure in February 2017.
Our goal is to breathe new life into the site, adding real substance to the fantastic village community of Whimple by ensuring sustainable growth in its housing stock, while ensuring the continuation of these longstanding premises.
The Flats at Applemead House will consist of six high-quality flats spread across three floors in the Osprey style, providing a new roost for young professionals and the retirement community to enjoy all that East Devon has to offer. Each flat will have an area of approximately 47m2, consisting of two bedrooms and an open plan kitchen-dining-lounge area, and will employ the very best in energy efficiency technologies.
Part of the Gardens at Applemead House will be also converted to host an entirely new four bedroom detached house, creating yet more opportunity for a family to enjoy Whimple’s thriving community lifestyle.
Each apartment will be built by Osprey’s trusted construction partners, to the same high specification that we drive to achieve in all of our work. All apartments will be offered with elements of customisation available to help make these stunning units your own. The apartments are priced at:
Our detached house offering on this site has been designed with independent access and parking spaces, and will be offered with a full suite of Self Build or Custom Build options, allowing you to take advantage of the vast experience and expertise here at Osprey Developments, while taking as much control of the process as you desire.
This plot is now sold subject to contract.
